Immediately after the opening ceremony of the SUMMER SURVIVAL 2009 that took place in the garrison of Vyškov, all 20 competing teams (15 Czech and 5 international) moved to the town of Slavkov u Brna to undergo the first event of the competition in the local outdoor swimming pool in the late afternoon hours.
The teams had to surmount the artificial obstacle in the form of the actual swimming pool. However, their task was much harder; as the competitors, after the initial “warm-up”, had to run on the access road toward the swimming pool, remove their clothing, jump into the pool and swim to the other side. During swimming they had to beat surface hurdles, and then submerge to the bottom to pull up the parts of an assault rifle and bring them out of the pool to be properly assembled.
